When used as an adjective it is the level of child resistance to open a dangerous bottle, jar, container, vial, bag or any other packaging.
Childproof can be a gauge of difficulty for the child to get to the contents. The harder it is for the child to open the higher the level of childproofing. You can also say that a package can have a higher degree of child resistance which makes the package more childproof.
No package is 100% childproof. Some packages can be designed to be as close to childproof but they still have the one-in-a-billion chance to be opened by a child.
